Rainbows and Waterfalls

Over the weekend I went to the Maui Camera Club Dinner and we got to see a bunch of interesting photos by Robert Gilman. Not that my photos compare by any means… I wanted just wanted to share a couple that I took on my helicopter ride over east Maui.

The first is a dual waterfall in the Keanae Valley, this is one of my favorites.

The second is a beautiful rainbow at the footsteps of Haleakala, near Hana, probably the highlight of the ride.

SVP on Ducks Win Over Trojans

This is what Scott Van Pelt said on his radio today.

“”I never thought this could happen,” that is what USC quarterback Matt Barkley said.

“We got beat up,” is how safety Taylor Mays put it.

What Barkley thought couldn’t happen and what Mays aptly described as ‘a nightmarish Halloween trip’ for USC to the outdoor insane asylum they call Autzen Satium. What happened was not a mistake or an accident. It was a mythodical, brutal and endless excersize, a demonstration if you will, about where the ballance of power in the Pac 10 lives in 2009. And it has clearly shifted up the coast from SoCal to Eugene, Oregon. The Ducks punished USC with pace and a relentless physicality that had to stun the Men of Troy.”

LeGarrette Blount

I have mixed emotions the day after. Last night, I wanted him off the team, period. The game was bad enough, then Blount Force Trauma totally over reacted. No excuse to either one. This morning I feel he deserves an indefinate suspension until he calm down and be able to control his emotions. If you cut this guy loose, I honestly think he would be in a downward spiral. Everyone deserves a chance to get it right but how many has he had. But then I really don’t want this head ache on the team all year. Just too much negative pub.

Oregon made a mistake by making Blount one of the main faces of the team in marketing, having nearly every jersey color of him available. They will lose so much money on those now!

What a way to disgrace the University, the program and its loyal fans.

…..

If you look at the last play, Blount was right near the Boise sideline. Wrong place, wrong time and he still made a bone head descision. Then rustling with his own players and coaches and police? Should have put that focus into Purdue man.

I am also shocked by all the fans who say “look around the league, this stuff happens.” Do you want the team you root for to be associated with schools that cannot control its players? It sucks to be trash talked by almost all the media the day after for something like this. You know the offense will get some additional reps, that’s fixable. The Blount situation, doubtful.

Trail Blazers starters according to McMillan

I guess McMillan outlined his lineup courtside last night.

Starters:
joel pryzbilla
lamarcus aldridge
nicholas batum
brandon roy
steve blake

Off the bench:
greg oden
travis outlaw
martell webster
rudy fernandez
andre miller

They need an additional PF because no way outlaw can matchup. What I do see is the second unit running a lot and trying speed up the tempo while the first unit plays a little slower. I see this working for the first half and as the game progresses, it will be Andre, Roy, Martell, LaMarcus and Greg. I still hope we see Bayless play a little more this year but he has to win his PT.

Favre

So Brett Favre is going to stay retired this time. It would have been fun to watch the Vikings season with him and Adrian Peterson together but he decided it was enough. I saw it first on Twitter. Mortenson broke it. It’s like having ESPN insider without having to pay for it. Since Favre isn’t coming back, should Minnesota look at signing Mike Vick? I bet he would get the start by week 4 if he could play that soon.

Mosquitos

I have never in my life been attacked by more blood drinking insects than the last few days. laying in the hammock, sitting on the patio or inside at the neighbors. Hands down the most unnecessary being on the earth. I just got bit again. time to retreat.

Public Enemies

I just got back from watching Public Enemies. Overall I thought it was a pretty good movie. what stood out the most was the costumes and sets in the movie. Fantastic job! I really didn’t know much about Dillinger’s life and I’m really curious on how much of it was accurate. The scene that I had a really hard time believing was when Depp walks into the Chicago Police Station and looks at all the evidence on him and his crew.

I Really liked the portrayal of Melvin Purvis by Batman himself. Christian Bale has a good trigger finger. He shot Pretty Boy Floyd and Dillinger. Great resume but I’m sure it took a lot out of him. I can see why he stepped down from the G-Men title. Now the research begins.
